Midcentury Makeover

by Ashley Tapley, Owner, Designer & Stager House Candy Home

This midcentury Aptos golf course home got a makeover before it was listed and sold in a snap. We were thrilled to be working on another makeover with Brooke and Kasey Hinchman from David Lyng. We did a pre-sale walkthrough and determined how to best maximize the sale price for the home. The owner was also thrilled to be leaving it in great shape for another generation. She grew up in the home so this was a very special project. I also live in the neighborhood so it was especially special to me.

Check out our journey!

What we did:

  • We had a vision of selecting colors and finishes with a Modern Farmhouse style

  • Color consultation inside and out: Exterior: Bunglehouse Gray , Creamy trim and Tricorn Black door. Interior: Natural Choice walls and Green Trim. We also specified various sheens to maximize the brightness in the rooms, and had a pretty strategic color placement strategy to help blend in some closet doors to the paneling -all paints were Sherwin Williams

  • Exterior lighting - Modern Farmhouse Style

  • Added exterior bottom trim piece to upstairs windows

  • New house numbers

  • Power washed the tile patio

  • Added hog wire to empty railing frames on the back decks

  • Interior Paint with a comprehensive plan to feature certain items and to draw less attention to others

  • New LVP flooring

  • New black door hardware

  • New cabinet hardware

  • Chalkboard paint on the powder room pocket door

  • All new interior lights

  • Added dimmer switch to dining chandelier

  • New kitchen appliances

  • Modern Farmhouse Style Home Staging

Here is my favorite room transformation.
