Scenic in Seattle - Vacation Rental Gets the House Candy Pacific Northwest Treatment
Updated: Feb 22
Designing spaces for vacation guests is a thrill! I love thinking about the people that visit how they will enjoy the space- down to the bedding and super cute coffee mugs. The space we create can make or break a great stay. Recently I was able to help transform a downtown Seattle vacation rental that I like to refer to as "SMALL but MIGHTY".
This project was especially near and dear to my heart because it was for a good friend, and my family is originally from the Seattle/Bellevue area, so I have spent quite a bit of time in the Pacific Northwest and I love it there. Some of my favorite memories were spent in the state of Washington with my family. I love the Pacific Northwest "PNW" design aesthetic. I especially adore watching HGTV's Unsellable Houses and the Lamb and Company sisters who rock the PNW vibe in every episode. I was also lucky enough to shop at their beautiful Lamb and Co store in Snohomish, WA!
We started off with a basic condo with dated cabinets, flooring and lighting. We updated the flooring with durable Luxury Vinyl Plank in a natural oak finish, we selected some fun trendy lighting, great paint colors, brass hardware and all new furnishings to make this place cozy and inviting. One of the biggest challenges was making the bedroom feel special because it is basically a closet the size of a queen bed. By adding stylish lighting, a cool headboard and a trim bed frame, we were able to make it a cozy and nap worthy nook.
What People Are Saying...
"It’s so beautiful! I’m having my friend book it right now." "Thanks for welcoming us to your place, we are so excited to visit Seattle!" "Looks beautiful." "I'm interested in your booking your beautiful apartment."
The secret to getting your vacation rental booked out is having a great location, consistently clean and comfortable accommodations and great reviews. Having great photos is equally as important. The photos have only seconds to grab attention, so I wanted to make sure my friend got a great photographer to ensure her success. I searched for a local natural light photographer with styling capabilities to help us out since I was working on this project from California with photos, measurements and facetime. We were in luck and found the fabulous Emily Keeney!
